The parish-priest of Kkonge Catholic Church, the Rev. Fr. Dennis Ssekamaanya, has paid tribute to the vision bearers of SEECHILD for taking their humanitarian services to the rural areas.

He argued that there were even more needy people in the rural areas, which was why it was good news to see any organization extending its services beyond the urban areas.

He was delivering his speech during the official launching of the SEECHILD branch at Kkonge in Mpigi district.

SEECHILD (standing for Sustainable and Effective Empowerment of Children with Disabilities) is a local non-profit organization that works with children living with disabilities through awareness raising, advocacy, skills training and research.

The Programs Coordinator of SEECHILD, Fredrick Matovu, expressed gratitude to the various individual persons and organizations that have rendered support to his NGO over the years.
The function was dignified with the presence of the chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Commission, Hajjat Safia Nalule, who called for a greater governmental and societal commitment to the empowerment of children living with disabilities through sensitization, affirmative action, academics and vocational skilling.

During the function, the newly designed SEECHILD outreach working manual was officially unveiled and launched. Individual persons and organisations that have been supportive of SEECHILD were also given a meritorious certificate of appreciation.
