Skills Training Program

SEECHILD runs skills training programs for children with disabilities at her two centers located in Wakiso and Mpigi namely: Bunamwaya Integrated Skills Training Centre (BISTC) located in Wakiso, and Mpigi Integrated Skills Training Centre (MISTC) which is located in Mpigi District.

Bunamwaya Integrated Skills Training Centre (BISTC)

This center runs a day skills training program where by children are collected from their homes and given skills training and then taken back in the evening on a daily basis. The children are skilled in both communication and vocational skills to enable them live happily with their disabilities. It’s a four year training program depending on the individual ability.

Mpigi Integrated Skills Training Centre (MISTC)

This center follows the same curriculum as the Bunamwaya training center, but it runs a boarding program targeting children from distant places.

Main objective

The main objective for our trainings is to enable the trainees acquire all-round basic skills training that help each individual trainee to overcome the limitations of his /her own disabilities to live a happy and productive life for self actualization.

The extent to which one trainee may excel in acquiring such practical skills is dependent on the inherent talent of each individual and the extent to which his / her disability can be successfully be contained for effective skills training.
